Time to haul out the holly, spike up the eggnog, and mosey on down to the Everlasting Arms Motor Court for some good ol’ fashioned holiday hijinks. Yes, this December Running With Scissors returns to the stage with its acclaimed multi-denominational, high-camp, trailer park musical spectacular, Grenadine McGunkle's Double-Wide Christmas!
This year we find our heroine, Grenadine (Dorian Rush), running around like a squirrel in a straightjacket, trying to put the finishing touches on the Everlasting Arms Talent Show and Holiday Interfaith Tailgate Extravaganza. Luckily, a few of Grenadine's friends are willing to lend a hand--namely, hairstylist extraordinaire Punkin (Brad Caldwell), bubbly bubbulah Gladys Finkelstein (Brian Peterson), and Gladys' long-lost son, Jesus (Donald Lewis). Add to the mix Grenadine's conniving cousins/step-sisters, Crystal and China (Lisa Picone and Ashley Ricord), next-door-nerd, Helen Highwater (Jack Long), Helen's obsessively orthodox mother, Estelle (Liz Zibilich), and Madge McGillicuddy (Elizabeth Pearce), the accompanist who couldn't care less, and you're in for one heck of night. Why were Crystal and China run out of Branson? Who's committing random acts of backstage sabotage? And who will win the talent show's grand prize? Running With Scissors is a New Orleans-based theatre troupe that's fast become a city-wide favorite! With numerous successful productions under its belt and many more in the works, Running With Scissors aims to present a diverse array of entertainment for Crescent City theatergoers.
